Breakthrough is a faith-based, non-profit organization that partners with those affected by poverty to build connections, develop skills, and open doors of opportunity. With a hyper-local, 40-block focus, Breakthrough provides a myriad of services focused on a profoundly simple formula: people first.

This long-time ministry partner of Renew Chicago and its Tri Team is committed to community revitalization in East Garfield Park on Chicago's West Side, and for more than 25 years.

Each year, Breakthrough provides housing, food, job training, medical care, education, and youth development activities to more than 13,000 local residents. Throughout all of its services, Breakthrough envisions a vibrant, healthy community in which all people recognize their God-given value and where success is the norm and families prosper.

Breakthrough has been partnered with our Tri Team since 2018, and with Renew Chicago at large even longer. This partnership has grown well beyond the swim, bike and run cases, with many team members now volunteering, bringing small groups to serve meals and getting engaged with a series of special events supporting the children, adults and elderly Breakthrough community throughout the year.
